It’s funny how some things just come together. I started my 52 Project earlier in the year with the intention of doing mainly portraits. I slacked after the first few weeks, feeling a little aimless in the whole thing.
Manche Dinge ergeben sich einfach. Mein Project 52 sollte dieses Jahr vor allem aus Portraits bestehen. Irgendwie kam ich aber in dieses Thema nicht richtig rein.
I’ve just realized that slowly but surely a direction has developed in the series. The photos that inspire me and speak to me most are those where people connect with animals in one way or another. I’ve decided to try and build on this first start and start exploring those moments more and more in the 52 project. I will also be adding these photos to a Connections photo series album on Facebook.
Die Fotos, die mich am meisten ansprachen waren solche, die eine Verbindung von Menschen zu ihren Tieren darstellten. Daher werde ich mich in diesem Projekt von nun an darauf konzentrieren, solche Momente einzufangen. Für diese “Connections” Serie gibt es ein Fotoalbum auf Facebook, das im Laufe des Jahres erweitert wird.

Having a photoshoot with this 28 year old mare on a sunny Sunday evening was a joy.
Der Fotoshoot mit dieser tollen, 28 Jahre alten Stute, war einfach eine Freude!
Despite her age the old lady is still undeniably photogenic.
Obwohl schon deutlich betagt ist die alte Dame noch eine Schönheit und unbestreitbar fotogen.

Maternity shoots are among my favourites and I was thrilled when Vildan contacted me about doing her baby belly photos. At 38 weeks we were in a hurry to get the photos done before baby arrives!
Babybauch-Fotos gehören zu meinen liebsten Fotoshoots und als Vildan mich kontaktierte um ihre Schwangerschaft zu dokumentieren, war ich sofort Feuer und Flamme. Da sie schon in der 38. Woche war, mussten wir uns ganz schön beeilen, um dem Baby noch zuvor zu kommen!

Vildan was completely relaxed and agile despite her big belly and had no problem keeping up with her husband Cenk and me as we strolled around, discovering one pretty location after the next.
Trotz des Bauchs war Vildan völlig entspannt und sportlich auf den Beinen während wir gemeinsam mit ihrem Mann Cenk die Location erkundeten und eine schöne Ecke nach der anderen “abgrasten”.
Isn’t she the most gorgeous Mama-to-be you’ve ever seen!?

I can’t believe it’s the end of March already and I am only now blogging Silian’s 6-months-photoshoot from last december! I already photographed Silian as a newborn.
Kaum zu glauben, dass es schon Ende März ist und ich erst jetzt dazu komme, Silians 6-Monats-Photoshoot aus Dezember zu bloggen! Ich hatte ihn bereits als Neugeborenen vor der Linse.
Unfortunately on the scheduled day it was dark and gray and never stopped raining. Since postponing so close to christmas would prove difficult we decided to have a cozy indoor shoot instead with a very short dash to the balcony.
Leider hatten wir spektakuläres Pech mit dem Wetter, am verabredeten Tag war es dunkel und regnete in Strömen. Da es aber auf Weihnachten zuging und ein Ersatztermin schwierig gewesen wäre, wurden es eben gemütliche Indoor-Fotos mit einem kurzen Abstecher auf den Balkon.

Claudia is an animal physiotherapist who treats mostly horses. For her new website she needed photos depicting her work but also nice portrait shots of her and her dog and horse.
Als Tierphysiotherapeutin behandelt Claudia vor allem Pferde. Für ihre neue Website benötigte sie Fotos von ihrer Arbeit, aber auch Portraitaufnahmen gemeinsam mit ihrem Hund und ihrem Pferd.

Watching Claudia at work is fascinating. The horses she treats soon relax under her hands and enjoy the therapy.
Claudia bei der Arbeit zu beobachten ist faszinierend. Die behandelten Pferde legen ihr Misstrauen schnell ab und genießen die Physiotherapie entspannt.
Of course she owns a dog and a horse herself and despite the grey November weather they enjoyed the photoshoot as well.
Natürlich sind auch Claudias eigener Hund und Pferd nie weit und hatten trotz des grauen Novemberwetters Spaß am Fotoshoot.

After doing both their wedding and their maternity photos, I was thrilled to meet Katrin’s and Mo’s 3 week old baby boy Elias!

I’ve photographed Andrea and Jörg and their family a couple of times already and this year they wanted to take their two horses and their dog along for the ride as well. We headed out to the woods and enjoyed the autumn landscape.

After successfully tiring out little Alex we dedicated the last light minutes of the day to getting some quieter shots with their two horses.
Nachdem wir Alex mit dem Fotoshoot erfolgreich ausgepowert hatten, widmeten wir uns den beiden Pferden für eine Reihe schöner, ruhiger Momentaufnahmen.

Documenting the relationship of people with their pets and other animals is always a special pleasure for me. Becky needed some portrait shots for christmas and also wanted Fine, the horse she cares for, to be in the pictures.
Die Beziehung zwischen Menschen und ihren Tieren einzufangen ist immer etwas Besonderes für mich. Becky brauchte schöne Portraitfotos für Weihnachten und ihre Familie, aber sie wollte auch das Fine, ihr Pflegepferd, eine prominente Rolle auf den Fotos spielt.
Becky is from Texas, USA, but she has lived and worked in Germany for many years. She has always been fascinated by horses and wanted to learn how to ride. Since retiring from work, she has been taking classes and cares for horses at a local barn.
Becky kommt ursprünglich aus Texas, USA, lebt aber schon seit vielen Jahren in Deutschland. Obwohl sie in ihrer Heimat nie mit Pferden in Berührung kam (offensichtlich gibt es in Texas doch nicht nur Cowboys!), wollte sie immer schon reiten lernen. Als sie in Rente ging, war endlich die Zeit da und seitdem nimmt sie Reitunterricht und kümmert sich um Fine, ihr Pflegepferd.

I’ve shot a couple of weddings this year but never one where I was a surprise for the bride who didn’t know I was coming! Heike’s friends thought she should have great photos of her big days and booked me as a present.
Ich habe dieses Jahr schon einige Hochzeiten fotografiert, aber noch nie eine, bei der ich Überraschungsfotografin war und die Braut nicht wusste, dass ich komme! Heikes Freunde waren entschlossen, dass sie richtig schöne Fotos von dem großen Tag haben sollte und buchten mich kurzerhand als Geschenk!
Heike and Markus got married in a beautiful little church in a historical village. Since they didn’t know I was coming we didn’t have much time after the ceremony but we walked around for a while and found some lovely locations.
Die Zeremonie fand in einer sehr hübschen Kirche inmitten eines historischen Dorfes statt. Da die beiden vorher nichts von meinem Kommen wussten, hatten wir nach der Kirche recht wenig Zeit, fanden aber schnell ein paar hübsche Ecken für Fotos.
